Antitrust/Competition

We provide economic analysis and expert testimony in mergers and acquisitions; in price fixing and collusion (Article 81) cases; in litigation involving claims of monopolization, abuse of dominance or other anticompetitive practices (Article 82); and in antitrust damages. We also identify and support international academic expert witnesses.

Our analytical capabilities are reflected in our rigorous economic arguments, sophisticated analyses of complex data sets, advanced econometric techniques, simulation models to assess competitive effects in litigation and merger proceedings, and other state-of-the-art applications. We present clear and focused findings, avoiding jargon and unnecessary technicalities.

We have appeared before the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, the European Commission, the Court of First Instance, U.S. federal and state courts, arbitration proceedings, and competition authorities in numerous countries around the world. We have also been involved in competition proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Federal Communications Commission, the Surface Transportation Board, the Department of Transportation, and state regulatory agencies.

Our economic consultants work in many industry sectors, including aerospace, chemicals, consumer goods, electric power, electronics, financial services, media, metals, natural gas, petroleum, pharmaceuticals, software, telecommunications, and transportation. We have provided economic expertise on the impacts of a number of recent mergers (or attempted mergers) and joint ventures, including SBC/AT&T, AT&T /BellSouth, Arcelor/Mittal, Gas Natural/Endesa, GdF/Suez, and E.ON/MOL. We work closely with our international colleagues, providing clients with a single source for economic analyses of mergers with significant transatlantic dimensions.
