Natural Gas

The Brattle Group applies its expertise in all sectors of the natural gas industry, from wellhead to burner-tip, and offers a wide variety of economic consulting services to gas market participants worldwide.

We provide economic expert testimony in regulatory and legal disputes over pricing, prudence and cost recovery, terms of access, and contract performance. We analyze the competitiveness of gas production, midstream markets, transportation and storage, and end-use markets in the context of restructuring proceedings, antitrust disputes, mergers and acquisitions, and government inquiries. We analyze damages or critique damages estimates performed by others. We provide strategic advice to clients on service design and pricing, asset valuation, and risk management as it relates to gas procurement.

Our clients have included pipeline and midstream companies, shippers, utilities, regulators, law firms, and governments in North and South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. We have provided expert testimony on natural gas matters before the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the National Energy Board of Canada, the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board, and U.S. state utility commissions and federal and district courts. We frequently appear before antitrust authorities, arbitration proceedings, and government agencies around the world.
